The Lady Lions win opener

Knightstown- Rushville faced off with the New Castle Lady Trojans at the Hoosier Gym on Friday night. Rushville jumped out to an early lead with Briley Munchel getting hot from three point land. Munchel’s 14 points all came in the first frame as the Lady Lions pressed New Castle’s offense and went up 27-6 after the first frame. Both squads added 4 points each in the second quarter and Rushville led 31-10 at halftime. Leonie Boyer dominated the third frame scoring 12 points and putting the Lady Lions up 45-16 after three quarters. New Castle doubled their total dropping 16 on the Rushville reserves in the final frame, But Melissa Marlow’s Lady Lions pulled out the win 49-32 to start the season. Leading Rushville in scoring was Boyer with 21, Munchel with 14, and the senior Belle Gossett scored 7 with five of her points coming from the charity stripe.
