Lady Lions win in comeback over Eastern Hancock

Rushville’s first home game in Memorial Gym brought the Eastern Hancock Lady Royals to town Saturday afternoon. In a close battle, the Lions eventually triumphed 49-44.
Munchel started hot again, hitting two three-pointers for the Lady Lions. Turnovers from the offense let the Lady Royals pull ahead, going up 15-10 through the first frame.
A defensive battle took place in the second quarter with Rushville coming out on top scoring nine to Eastern Hancock’s eight.
Down 23-19 at the half, Boyer put up nine points in the third period to bring Rushville within one – the score 31-30 after three.
Both squads battled in a high-scoring fourth quarter. Rushville seniors Gossett and Munchel each scored seven points in the frame with Boyer adding five more to her total from the free throw line. Tied at 40-40, Rushville got a big three from Munchel and pulled ahead.
Rushville was led in scoring by Boyer with 18, Munchel 15, and Gossett with 11. Gossett completed the double-double with a dozen boards and added 2 steals. Boyer had 9 rebounds and an assist while Munchel posted 4 caroms, 2 steals and 1 assist. Rounding out scoring, Parsley and Herbert each had 2 and Smith a foul shot. Smith, Buzzard and Kuhn had 2 boards each, with Herbert adding 2 steals and an assist.
