Batesville falls short in high scoring final frame, ND wins 64-57
The Lady Bulldogs were in action Saturday night as they hosted the North Decatur Lady Chargers, looking to avenge the 52-46 loss from last season. The Lady Bulldogs went up early in Saturday’s contest with Peters scoring nine first quarter points and BHS going up 13-7. The second frame went the way of North Decatur with Madelyn Bohman and Ella Kunz using their size and scoring inside on the Lady Dogs, they put up 20 points in the second frame while Batesville lone score came from Clare Saner after hitting a basket and following it up with a free throw after being fouled on shot. The Lady Bulldogs managed a much better third quarter adding 17 points to their tally, Deputy connected on two, three-point attempts, and BHS was down by nine to begin the final frame, 42-33. The Batesville effort in the fourth quarter got them as close to within eight points of ND. Sophie Gesell was seven of eight from the free throw line while the rest of the team was six of six in the frame. North kept pace with the Lady Dogs scoring 22 points to BHS’s 24 points. The final was 64-57 with Batesville scoring 12 of their points in the final two minutes. Gesell led the Lady Bulldogs with 18 points, Peters scored 13, Deputy 8, Weiler 7, Hascamp and Obermeyer both finished with 4, and Saner had 3.
Batesville will host Seymour on Friday.
