Lady Dogs finally get Jac-Cen-Del, add another win over Connersville for a 2-0 weekend
It had been over seven years since the Batesville Lady Bulldogs had defeated the Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagles on the hardwood, a stretch that went 11-0 in favor of county rival JCD.
That changed Friday night at BHS. The Dogs pulled out a tight 49-47 win over the Eagles to even their season record at 3-3.
After one period, the score was tied at 12-12. The hosts gained some separation over the next eight minutes, taking the second quarter 13-8 to lead by five at halftime. The Eagles got three of those back out of the locker room, going into the final frame down 36-34. The squads were even in the fourth, each netting 13 points. Sophomore Aly Peters led all scorers with 23 points, hitting all seven free throw attempts. Classmate Lydia Haskamp netted 10 tallies. JCD put three players in double figures – Julia Meyer 16, Reagan Hughes 14, Olivia Neal 12.
Vs. Connersville Saturday afternoon in the Spartan Bowl, the Bulldogs made it three wins in a row while picking up their first Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference victory. Final was 54-41. The guests had a sluggish start, trailing 12-11 after eight minutes of play. The turnaround came in period two, as BHS outscored the Spartans 13-5 to lead by seven at half. Peters completed an excellent weekend with 22 more points and Haskamp again posted 10.

BHS (4-3, 1-0) travels to Shelbyville Saturday for a matinee with the Lady Golden Bears.
