Bulldogs takeout Cubs for first mat victory

The Batesville wrestling team hosted the Madison Cubs in their home opener on Tuesday. Despite only having nine wrestlers competing to Madison’s 11, the Dogs overcame the odds, winning five out of eight matches by pin. The Dogs collected a 36-33 win over Madison.

Sophomore Conner Shields got his first win of his career by pin at 132. Freshman Dylan Comer also got his first win of his high school career by pin at 170. David Maher (138), Damien Dance (160), and Max Amberger (285) all moved to 2-0 winning by pin while AJ Dance (106) picked up a forfeit to move to 2-0 as well. The five other teams they will square off with are Rushville, Lawrenceburg, Union County, Greensburg, and Milan.
