Connersville girls and Batesville boys sweep three-way meet

The Connersville Spartans hosted a three-way meet with the Batesville Bulldogs and Eastern Hancock Royals. The Batesville boys team went undefeated going 2-0, that included a two-point victory over Connersville. The Lady Spartans went 2-0 and moved to 3-0 on the season after dominating with a total of 227 points scored. The Connersville boys went 1-1. The Batesville girls went 0-2 in the meet.

Girls

The Connersville Lady Spartans got a first and second place finish in the 200 Free with Aleigha Williams winning and Abby Keal finished second. Kendall Martin won two races on the evening (100 IM, 100 Breaststroke.) The diving team of Izzie Swiniger, Regina Gonzalez, Khristyna Herasymchelk, and Talon Sherwood won the diving competition

For the Lady Dog swimmers Isabel Raab had the highest individual finish getting second place in the 50 free and fellow sophomore Sarah Bedel had a second-place finish in the 100 Fly. The Batesville girls head coach Greg McMullen said, “We always try to mix up our season opening swims to knock the rust off and figure out where we are.”

Boys

Batesville’s Will Johnson led the Dogs with two-first place finishes (200 IM, 100 Fly). Senior Ciaran Tyrer had a first in the 100 Breaststroke and finished in 3rd place in the IM. Matthew Tekulve earned a second in the 50 Free and a third-place finish 100 Free.

Connersville was led by Cooper Harvey who was first in the 200 freestyle, AJ Brandt finished second in the 500, and Owen Nobbe placed second in the 100 Back.
