Bulldogs are winners in EIAC battle with Lawrenceburg
BATESVILLE- The Lawrenceburg Tigers and Batesville Bulldogs battled on Friday evening. Four minutes into the first period the Dogs took a lead and never relinquished the rest of the contest, going on to win 50-37. Batesville improves to 2-1 on the season and Lawrenceburg falls to 1-1.
Jack Grunkemeyer hit two free throws to get Batesville on the board first. Sam Cornett and Logan Rohrer both scored for the Tigers, Sam Johnson unloaded a three, and Cade Kaiser scored four unanswered points putting BHS up 9-4. Cole Pride hit a pair of freebies and Logan Ahaus added a three for LHS and the score was 11-7 after the first quarter.
The second period was the Gus Prickel show, the BHS junior scored eight of the Bulldogs 10 points in the frame. Lawrenceburg scored eight points and it was 21-15 in favor of Batesville at halftime. In the third quarter the Bulldogs increased their lead to 10 after a Grunkemeyer three pointer, at three minutes left in the period, Gerrold Taylor cut the lead back to seven with a longball, and it was 29-22 BHS. The Dogs got four more points from Kaiser, and Cooper Bobo scored before the end of the frame and Batesville was ahead 36-25 going into the fourth quarter.
Kaiser added three more points for the Dogs after completing an and one opportunity. Taylor scored five points for LHS, but a 14-point period for Batesville gave them the 50-37 win.
