Lady Trojans school the IHS Lady Wildcats, Trabel scores 40

The East Central girls dominated the Indy Home School Lady Wildcats last night in a boys/girls double feature. Josie Trabel put up 40 points in the matchup outscoring IHS’s team total. EC won 68-35.
The Lady Trojans doubled up IHS in the first period 18-9, they added 20 in the second, and 21 more in the third frame to go up 59-24. EC went into cruise control for the final frame and IHS outscored the Lady Trojans 11-9. The 33-point win puts EC at 9-4 on the season with an EIAC matchup with Batesville (4-6) scheduled for Saturday, East Central will be looking to go 4-0 in the conference. BHS is 1-2 in EIAC games after losing to Franklin County and Lawrenceburg in their last two outings.

Trabel hit 15 of 21 for 40 points, hit 8 of 9 free throws, 8 rebounds, 6 steals, 4 assists, and a block. Emily Klemm scored 14 points and had three blocked shots, Caitlyn Dick had six points and seven rebounds, Laney Baker scored six points with four assists and a block. Senior Karlie Davis had two points in the EC win.
The boys’ team didn’t fare as good as their game one counterpart. IHS went up on EC 19-11 after the first quarter and led EC at the half 30-21. The Trojans scored 19 points in the third frame and another 25 in the fourth, but IHS added 24 and 19, taking a 73-65 win. The loss drops the EC boys hoop team to 0-2 to start the season.
The Trojans will look for win number one this weekend with a Friday game at Milan (1-2) and a home bout and EIAC matchup with Batesville (2-2) on Saturday.
