Lady Lions victorious on Saturday

LAWRENCEBURG- The Lady Lions of Rushville and the Lawrenceburg Lady Tigers battled in the Hooping for Hope game on Saturday. Rushville escaped the game with a win and improved to 5-6 on the season, and 2-1 in EIAC games. The Lady Tigers are now 7-3 on the year and 2-2 in EIAC games after the loss.

Lizzie Redar got the game started with a two-point basket then Rushville’s Leonie Boyer scored the next three baskets. LHS battled back and took the lead after Natalie Knigga was successful from the free throw line. Briley Munchel and Gracie Buzzard each added a basket and the Lady Lions led after one quarter 10-8.

The second quarter went in Rushville’s favor with Kylee Herbert getting hot from outside the arch. Knigga paced the Lady Tigers with six points in the frame keeping LHS close. The score at the half was 28-25 in favor of Rushville. The third quarter swung in the Lady Lions favor with Herbert continuing to hit from deep. Rushville outscored Lawrenceburg in the third frame 19-10.

Munchel took over in the final period and scored nine of Rushville’s 18 points. A huge scoring quarter for the Lady Tigers led by Knigga’s six points had Lawrenceburg within six points of Rushville but the Lady Lions shot a perfect 10 of 10 from the charity stripe in the final period to hold on and win 65-57.
