Bulldogs to meet Raiders in Ripley final

VERSAILLES – The first night of the 99 th annual boys Ripley County Tournament last Wednesday at South
Ripley High School featured a couple of one-sided affairs as the Batesville Bulldogs creamed Jac-Cen-Del
64-42 and the hosts wiped out Milan 58-34. BHS will tip with South Ripley at approximately 8 p.m.
Saturday night to determine a champion.
The Dogs opened the year with a 10-point win over the Eagles of JCD, but this matchup proved BHS
clearly has the upper hand this season. The margin of 10 was repeated at halftime as Batesville went
into the locker room ahead 29-19 and poured in 35 after the break. The Dogs were ahead by 14 at 51-37
with 4:40 remaining in the contest.
Sophomore Cade Kaiser recorded a double-double (17 points, 13 rebounds) and landed a three to
extend the Bulldog lead to 18-3 early on. Point guard Gus Prickel added 3 points, 3 assists and a pair of
steals.
This year’s Ripley County Basketball Hall of Fame honorees will also be introduced Saturday. They are
Michael Menser (1997) and Forrest Shook (’34) of Batesville, Carmen Rohls Pride (’96) and William
VanKirk (’77) of Jac-Cen-Del, Danny Jackson (’65) of Versailles and Frank Kramer (’59) of Sunman. A
banquet will be held later in 2023.
BHS (7-3) then visits Greensburg in an EIAC matchup Thursday, Jan. 12.
