Dogs fall to Pirates in EIAC contest

The Batesville boys basketball team suffered its first EIAC loss of the season Thursday at Greensburg, dropping a 51-33 contest to the Pirates.

Greensburg outscored BHS 13-12 in the first quarter and led 30-24 midway. The Dogs managed just 9 second-half points. The Bucs added 11-points in the third period and another 10 in the final quarter to win 51-33. GCHS’ Ki Dyer led all scorers with 15 and junior Sam Johnson paced the guests with 14 on four threes. Jeter Edwards and Addison Barnes-Pettit each racked up a dozen for the hosts and Cole Pride added 10 for BHS. Pride added 5 rebounds and 4 blocks. Edwards had 8 boards for the victors.

The Bucs also got points from Jack McKinsey 6, Abe Tebbe 4, and Justin Adkins 2. Batesville got five points from Jack Grunenmeyer to go with three steals and four assists, Cade Kaiser scored 2-points, and Gus Prikel finished with 2.
