Tigers Trump Cats by 25

The Franklin County Wildcats hosted the Lawrenceburg Tigers on Tuesday evening. The Tigers defense shut down the Cats, rarely giving them an open shot. FC only scored 19-points on the night, The lowest scoring game in Franklin County history, and the first time they failed to reach the 20-point mark since the school’s inception in 1989. The previous low was a Feb. 25, 2015, a 44-20 loss to East Central. 

The Tigers came out and took a 5-0 lead to start the game with Noah Knigga scoring and a Cooper Bobo three-point shot. The Cats then got a basket from Tanner Weartz and another from Eli Butt to bring the score to 5-4. Lawrenceburg then went on a run and closed out the quarter on a 6-1 run. The score was Tigers 11 Cats 5 to start the second quarter. The squads traded baskets to start the second frame with Landon Johnson and Butt scoring for FC, and Bobo and Ben Cornet kept the Tigers up 16-9 midway through the quarter. A Johnson Deep ball would be the last score for FC in the half while the Tigers tacked on seven more points to lead at the half, 23-12.

The Tigers held FC without a field goal in the third period, the Cats managed three points in the frame via the charity stripe. Lawrenceburg poured on the points in the frame with Bobo knocking down three shots from deep, LHS was up 35-15 through three periods. A Johnson field goal and a Butt field goal were the only points scored by FC in the final quarter while the Tigers tacked on nine more to give the Cats their sixth loss of the season, and third in a row. Lawrenceburg improved to 11-3 and earned their first EIAC win improving to 1-1
