Hatmaker deals up a win for EC

RICHMOND- The East Central Lady Trojans’ started their season with a shutout win over Richmond on Wednesday evening. Junior Lexi Hatmaker was lights out in the circle, she tossed a complete game shutout, giving up five hits with no walks, and finished the game with nine strikeouts. The shutout is Hatmakers sixth at EC, and the win gives her 22 for her career.

East Central’s offense had no trouble making contact and scoring runs. They plated four runs in the first inning, two in the second, one in the third, and three more in each the fourth and fifth innings to win the game 13-0. Two Lady Trojans’ scored three runs in the contest, Payge Callahan and Kylee Ferreira. Makenna Mason scored twice, and five other EC players scored on the night; Kerigan Schuck, Karlie Davis, Emily Klem, Ella Bruss, and Hatmaker. Ferreira went two for four with a double and a triple, picking up two RBI’s. Callahan swiped two bags while going two for four at the plate.

East Central travels to Columbus North today for a 6pm game and they will open conference play on Tuesday when they host the defending EIAC champions, Connersville at 5:30.
