Lady Cats win big over Cambridge City

The Franklin County softball team starts their season 1-0 after an 11-1 win over Cambridge City Lincoln on Thursday. FC started the game with Maci Lake knocking in Brooke Stang on a single, Kensee Ferman then doubled to score Lake, and Kassidy Schell knocked in Ferman and Madison Perleburg to give the Lady Cats a 4-0 lead. Lake scored again in the second inning on a wild pitch, Schell scored on an RBI from Annie Hoff in the third frame, and FC led 6-0 through three innings. Stang started the fourth inning off with a triple and Lake knocked her in with a sacrifice fly. Schell knocked in Ferman with a single and it was 8-0 after four innings. The Lady Eagles finally plated a run in the top of the fifth inning, but the Lady Cats added three more runs in the bottom of the fifth with Schell, Hoff and Perleburg crossing the plate giving FC its first win of the year. Josie Rolfes pitched a complete game for the Lady Cats going five innings with five strikeouts and three walks. The offense collected 12 hits with five players getting multiple.

The Lady Cats host Centerville on Wednesday at 5pm, Travel to Richmond on Thursday for a 5:30 start, and Host Northeastern on Friday at 5:45.
