Lady Knights win high scoring affair

The South Dearborn softball team defeated Taylor 13-8 on Saturday. SD scored in the first inning when Lakota Vincent crossed the plate after an Emma Seaver bunt. Seaver scored on a pop fly error, Kori Cornet scored on a wild pitch, and the Lady Knights led 3-0 after one inning. Vincent scored again in the second inning and freshman Hayley Land scored on a wild pitch giving SD a 5-0 lead. Taylor came back in the third frame adding three runs. Ava Cutter plated a run for SD in the third making it a 6-3 game. After four innings the Lady Knights added three more runs (Vincent, Land, Seaver) to make it 9-3. Taylor added three runs in the top of the fifth inning, SD failed to score for the first time in the fifth. SD added four in the sixth inning to make up for it. A Cutter solo shot, and a Cory Lee three run dinger gave the Lady Knights a 13-8 win. SD collected eight hits and six RBI’s. Cornett went the distance in the circle giving up eight hits and three walks, while striking out 12. She is now 2-0 on the season with 16 K’s and a 2.00 ERA.

South Dearborn in on the road this evening when they take on Switzerland County at 5:30pm.
