Roberts delivers a 17 K performance for Rushville

The Lady Lions sophomore Stacey Roberts threw a seven-inning complete game while collecting 17 strikeouts and walking none. Roberts only gave up two hits to the Lady Dogs, who’s only run came in the seventh inning when Renee Lecher scored on an error. Freshman Libby Stephens was on the mound for Batesville, and she tossed six scoreless innings giving up just four hits. The freshman then came back out for the top of the seventh and the Lady Lions bats got hot. Roberts started Rushville off with a single, after a steal and an error she crossed the plate. Kylie Gray scored next on a Becca Tabeling single, Karma Wilson knocked in Tabeling, junior Ericka Kuhn singled in Wilson, and Briley Munchel doubled scoring Kuhn to put Rushville up 5-0. The bottom of the seventh saw Lecher single for Batesville, she made her way around the basepaths and crossed the plate for BHS to make it 5-1. Roberts finished the game for RCHS striking out three Lady Dogs and earning the win for Rushville. The Lady Lions start the season 1-0, Batesville is now 1-2. Stephens finished the game with four earned runs in her seven innings, giving up nine hits but walking none. Lecher and Marlee Obermeyer got the only two hits for the Lady Dogs who will travel to take on Jac-Cen-Del this evening. Rushville got two hits each from Kuhn, Wilson, and Molly Zachery. RCHS will travel to take on New Castle this evening.
