EC wins with 10 run inning

ST.LEON- The Lady Bulldogs took the 17 mile drive the East Central on Monday night, but their record fell to 2-3 on the season after a 10 run fourth inning by the Lady Trojans. The game was a 5-2 affair going into the bottom of the fourth. Karlie Davis led off the inning for EC with Libby Stephens on the mound for BHS. Davis walked on five pitches, Emily Klem singled, and a successful bunt from Kylie Ferreira scored the first run of the inning. Ella Bruss doubled, knocking in two runs, and Batesville brought in Renee Lecher to pitch. Montana Plymale reached on an error as Bruss crossed the plate and the score was 9-2 in EC’s favor. Lexi Hatmaker and Anna Black each singled, and the Lady Trojans batted around the lineup. Meredith Williams knocked in the final two runs for EC on a single and the score was 15-2. BHS freshman Cora Roth singled to start the top of the fifth inning, but Allison Davis retired the next three Lady Dogs via strikeout.

Davis finished the night with a complete game in the circle to earn the win. She gave up three hits, two runs, one walk, and eight strikeouts. Bruss led off the third inning for EC with a solo homerun and scored three runs in the game. Plymale scored three runs and Klem scored twice.

Calli Fletcher got Batesville a run in the first inning after getting on base with a double into right field. Lecher singled to score Fletcher in the next at bat. EC put up three runs in the bottom of the first inning, and two more in the third. Natasha Fowler drew a walk for Batesville in the fourth inning and made her way to third base where she scored on a wild pitch. That was the last BHs run that would cross the plate. Stephens took the loss allowing eight earned runs, walking four, and striking out two.

Batesville will be back in action Thursday hosting Franklin County (5-0) at 5:30.

East Central hosts New Palestine (3-0) tonight and will host South Dearborn Thursday at 5:30.
